Title
Female Immigrants
Description
Group of female immigrants pose for a photograph. It is more than likely that this photograph was taken at 5 Charles Street, Norwood, which was used as the Government Receiving Home For Female Immigrants between 1913 and 1915 inclusively. The woman fourth from the right in the second row appears in other Glass Negative Collection photographs of immigrant women at this time. She may have been the matron of the establishment. The location of these photographs has been confirmed as this address. See, for example, GN01107, GN01108, GN01004 and GN01009 and the construction and design of this outbuilding is consistent with that of the house and other buildiings at the address.
