Summary

edit
Description
English: Group photograph of uniformed female workers. The First World War led to change in the lives of many women who were now employed in roles that had formerly been undertaken only by men, like these female ticket collectors at Havant Railway Station. Uniforms were designed with shorter skirts than had been worn before the war so that women were able to move around more freely.
