Summary edit

Description

We encourage beachgoers to respect signage posted on our Ventura and Santa Barbara County Beaches related to recent wildlife strandings. For your safety, please stay at least 100 feet away from stranded sea lions, do not touch the sea lion, and do not allow pets near the distressed animal. Clinical signs of domoic acid poisoning in marine mammals and birds often include lethargy, swaying heads, seizures, and foaming at the mouth. We encourage beachgoers to immediately contact the appropriate organization listed here to report the sighting: go.usa.gov/x5CmS
