Description
Deutsch: Der Fenstergucker, Ecke Kärntner Straße 49 - Walfischgasse 1 - ist eine Kopie des "Fensterguckers" am alten Kärntnertor. Das Original, das in der Bogennische des Tors eingebaut war, war ein Werk aus dem 16. Jahrhundert und stellte den Baumeister des Tors, Bonifaz Wolmuet, dar. Es befindet sich heute im Wien Museum. Der Architekt des Hauses Ludwig Tischler hat diese Kopie nach der Fertigstellung des Hause 1886 an der Fassadenecke angebracht. Der Cafétier Scheidl eröffnete ein typisches Wiener Eckkaffeehaus mit Namen "Fenstergucker".
