Description
English: The experts at Bruun Rasmussen identified this as a view of a Danish coastal town. They were not wrong, but a closer inspection would have revealed that it is in fact a repeat of Richardt's 1840 painting of the landscape near Svendborg, sold to Den Kongelige Malerisamling ("The Royal Collection of Paintings") in 1841. Some persons in the foreground have been moved around, but the rest is more or less identical.
Dansk: Eksperterne fra Bruun Rasmussen betegnede maleriet som Dansk købstad ved en fjord, i forgrunden spadserende damer. Det er sådan set rigtigt, men et dybere spadestik ville have afsløret, at der er tale om en gentagelse af et maleri af landskabet ved Svendborg, som Richardt udførte i 1840 og solgte til Den Kongelige Malerisamling (nu Statens Museum for Kunst) i 1841. Der er blevet rykket rundt på nogle af personerne i forgrunden, mens resten er mere eller mindre identisk.
