English: No. 3135 iwas built in 1953 and is a representative of a 477 strong class of Polish 0-6-0T locos built at Fablok between 1947 and 1960 and variously known as TKh49, T3A or as Ferrum. As the Swindon and Cricklade Railway's website note ".... Tkh locomotives are already in service with a number of other heritage railways where they are powerful and willing performers." They also note that "... No. 3135 was seen as an ideal acquisition for the Swindon & Cricklade [Railway] ... ". However, since arriving at Blusdon from the Spa Valley Railway No. 3135 failed an annual boiler inspection and after remedial work a different boiler inspector identified that further work is necessary. "While No 3135 is currently out of service for repairs, it will be appreciated that this is sometimes necessary for all forms of motive power. It does not alter the fact that 'Spartan' has the potential to give the railway a satisfactory future, free of locomotive hiring costs.

The agreement under which 'Spartan' was acquired now needs the railway to restore funds borrowed to complete the purchase. We are therefore asking enthusiasts and other supporters of the railway - the only operator of heritage steam in Swindon - to add to the railway's own cash generation."
