ID#: 410 Description: This micrograph reveals a fertilized egg of the round worm Ascaris lumbricoides; Mag. 400X.

Fertilized eggs are rounded, have a thick shell. While unfertilized eggs are elongated and larger, thinner shelled, covered by a more visible mammillated layer, which is sometimes covered by protuberances.
