Summary edit

Description
English: Fiddlers Ferry Lock, St Helens Canal A short section of the St Helens Canal near Fiddlers Ferry, between Widnes and Warrington, is still used for moorings. To access it this lock from the River Mersey is used. That the river is tidal at this point is clearly indicated by the mud visible on the left-hand side of the approach channel and just below the bottom gates of the lock. The navigable canal section runs for a couple of hundred yards in each direction in front of the hedge in the background. Some of the railings above the lock, close to where the group of people is standing, mark a swing bridge carrying the towpath, which is also a road to riverside properties at this point.
