English: Fields at New Downs. In the centre of the picture is Doble's sand pit, which supplies yellow sands, one of only a few local suppliers of such sands since the sand pit at Gwithian closed a few years ago (the more common sand locally is grey or silver sand from decomposed granite, usually as a by-product of granite quarrying or china clay extraction). On the coast in the distance can be seen the caostguard lookout on St Agnes Head 1476972. |
