Echinacea purpurea - native; Alternate names: Echinacea, eastern purple coneflower, hedgehog coneflower; Blooms July - September; This perennial reaches 47 inches (120 cm) in height by maturity. Flower petals are almost always purple in the wild. Uses for this plant are numerous, with indigenous applications ranging from wound, burn and insect bite remedies, to toothache, throat infections, pain, cough, stomach cramps, and snake bites internally.
