Summary edit

Description
English: Ship model from the film Fitzcarraldo (1980) directed by Werner Herzog, displayed at the Museum of Film and Television Berlin, Deutsche Kinemathek.
Klaus Kinski personified the title figure in this film, an up-and-coming natural rubber baron at the turn of the century, who wants to construct an opera house in the middle of the jungle. He purchases an old steamship in order to reach a remote area of natural rubber, whose exploitation is intended to guarantee the financing of his plan. However, the river is impassable in places, and consequently Fitzcarraldo has the natives pull the ship over the crest of a steep hillside. The fact that Werner Herzog actually had his film ship pulled up a slope by indigenous extras from the Aguaras tribe caused controversy among some of his audiences. The 3.77 m long model of the "Molly Aida" was built by the production designer Henning von Gierke. It was only used in a short special effects scene.
Deutsch: Schiffsmodell Fitzcarraldo (1980), Werner Herzog. Filmmuseum Berlin, Deutsche Kinemathek, Berlin.
