Title
Finger Ring fragment from Rudston
Description
English: Copper-alloy finger-ring, possibly coated with white metal (silver or tin), set with dark blue glass. Thin sheet bezel with an open hoop with two tapered ends to allow for adjustment. An oval setting standing proud of the centre of the bezel retains a dark blue glass stone whose surface itself stands slightly proud of the setting. Incised lines define a square field around the oval setting; this area retains a slightly silvery tint, possibly showing the extent of a coating. Suggested date: Later Roman, 200-300 AD.

Internal diameter (as found): 14.5mm, Width (at bezel): 11mm, Thickness (sheet): 0.7mm, Height (at setting): 4.1mm, Weight: 2.04gms.
