Description
English: Finlaystone House There was a building on this site in the 14th century but the present house was built, or rebuilt, in 1760 with further major rebuilding in 1900. This was the seat of the Earls of Glencairn and the 14th Earl was a friend and patron of Robert Burns who visited here. Another notable visitor was John Knox and a tree in the grounds is where he is said to have preached. This is now home of the chief of Clan MacMillan and open to the public during the summer
