בוראנו הוא אזור איים במזרח- צפון ונציה. הוא כולל חמישה איים מהלגונה של ונציה. בין שני האיים הגדולים מוביל גשר מעץ. איפיונו הוא במלאכת התחרה הידנית שנשות האי מבצעות בכניסה לביתם . אל האי מגיעים ספינות תיירים, העוגנות בחוף, דבר שאינן יכולות לבצע בוונציה עצמה. מיוחד לאי הבתים הצבועים בצבעים שונים, האחד שונה ממשנהו. יש אפילו הסבר של משורר על הסיבה לכך.
האי שוכן במרחק של שבעה ק"מ מוונציה וזמן הנסיעה ב"ספינת הנוסעים" הוא כ-40 דקות.
