| Description |
English: Fische Moored at 23 Riverbank and a bit of a cause celebre amongst the houseboats. A former West German Navy minesweeper launched in 1960 and bought to replace the owner's previous houseboat, a WW2 torpedo boat in 2003. A small number of people objected to the size and pursued legal action which finally reached a verdict in favour of the owners of the boat allowing it to stay at its moorings. The action was one in a series of legal battles over the years between the council, local residents and the boat owners which occasionally simmer to the surface and have seen the number of houseboats reduced over the years particularly in the 1980s. |
