Description
English: Puntius Sarana (Olive Barb) is an edible fresh water fish frequently found in the coastal fresh waters of India, Pakistan and other neighboring countries. The adult can normally attain a body length of up to 20 cm and a weight of 500g.
മലയാളം: മുണ്ടത്തി, കുറുക, പരൽ എന്നെല്ലാം പല പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കുറുവ (Olive Barb - Puntius Sarana ) ഇന്ത്യ, പാക്കിസ്താൻ, ശ്രീലങ്ക തുടങ്ങിയ ഏഷ്യൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ വളരുന്ന ഭക്ഷ്യയോഗ്യമായ ഒരു ശുദ്ധജലമത്സ്യമാണു്. കറുപ്പ് കലർന്ന വെള്ളി നിറവും ചെതുമ്പലുമുള്ള ഈ മത്സ്യത്തിനു് പൂർണ്ണവളർച്ചയെത്തിയാൽ അരയടിവരെ നീളവും അര കിലോഗ്രാമിനോടടുത്തു് ഭാരവും സാധാരണമാണു്.
