File:Five cheetahs were feeding on a Springbok kill one morning in th (34407780271).jpg
A brown hyena wandered down and joined them as they fed. It chewed the springbok in half, grabbed the back half, and carried it off. The cheetahs did nothing but look on with amazement. Maybe mamma cheetah was teaching her four cubs to watch out for hyenas. After it left, the jackals started to move in, but they were wary of the cheetahs, which continued feeding on the remaining half. Then, all five of them popped up together, and there was the hyena running in at a brisk pace. It grabbed the other half, and though it could barely lift it, it carried it off into the bushes. The cheetahs just looked dejected, and the jackals moved in and cleaned up the intestines and other nasty bits. The cheetahs came back, ate whatever was left and wandered off. About 2 hours later I saw them at the water hole nearby. Two days later we saw them again, hunting much further south down the Aub.
