Flabellospora acuminata Descals Image location: Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Santa Cruz Co., California, USA On a wet, well rotted branch, immersed in mud and water—the standing, dirty water left after recent heavy rainfalls, just across Visitor Center. The branch was hosting a Scutellinia and a Lasiosphaeria species, this phycomycete was found accidentally while examining the “lasio”. Apparently, this is a conidium of an aquatic fungus, “Ingoldian” is the name for the group of species like this that one typically looks for in water foam. (https://blog.mycology.cornell.edu/...)
