According to various sources on the internets, ear candling falls squarely in the quackery yard. Little scientific evidence blah blah blah. Many people forget what science really is, and what to use it for. We can never *know* anything for sure in science; anyone who offers scientific *proof* is probably trying to sell you something or make something illegal. Science is here to help you make better decisions, but not to make the decision for you. If there is little scientific support for a position, go ahead and make a scientifically unsound decision. Science often fails to take all relevant details into consideration, an unfortunate consequence of the overwhelming amounts of data in the real world. For instance, in a scientific analysis of ear candling, the scientists just analyzed the contents of an ear candle, looking for ear goo stuff. I read thier reports. Not once did they quantify how totally friggen rad it is to have fire sticking out of your ear. It sounds like a jet engine. |
