JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (June 14, 2012) Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Mathew Thompson is greeted with a kiss by his wife as he is the first to disembark when the Los Angeles-class submarine USS Tucson (SSN 770) returned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam after completing a six-month deployment to the western Pacific region. Tucson is the second ship of the United States Navy to bear the name of the Arizona city. It is the 59th Los Angeles-class attack submarine and the 20th of the improved Los Angeles-class attack submarine to be built.
