BALTIMORE (Aug. 6, 2012) Brad Snyder trains at the Merritt Athletic Club in Baltimore Aug. 6 for the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London. Snyder is a former Navy lieutenant and EOD officer who suffered permanent blindness from an IED explosion in Afghanistan on Sept. 7, 2011. He has already won two medals at the 2012 Paralympics, a gold in the 100-meter freestyle and silver in the 50. The Paralympics is a major international sporting event in which thousands of athletes, including wounded and injured U.S. service members, participate in a variety of sporting events.
