WASHINGTON (June 4, 2012) Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. Jonathan Greenert and the official party salute the colors as they are paraded at the U.S. Navy Memorial to mark the start of the Battle of Midway Commemoration Day ceremony. Greenert officially proclaimed June 4, 2012 "Battle of Midway Commemoration Day" and called upon all Sailors from this day forward to mark June 4 as a day to remember the bravery and legacy of Midway veterans. This year is the 70th Anniversary of the decisive Battle of Midway, known as the turning point in WWII, which lead to the United States' victory in the Pacific.
