Hippos have a fearsome reputation as unpredictable killers. I hadn't planned to put this to the test but this gal surfaced a bit closer than expected -fortunately she remained relaxed and in good humour. At night Hippos come out onto the lawns of the Lake Baringo country club to graze -it can be a bit of a shock eyeballing one through your bedroom window only a few metres away! (The Kelpie is a supernatural shape-shifting water horse of celtic mythology ......or is it?) Image taken in Lake Baringo, Kenya. |
