Description

Sgt. Cesar Campbell (left), native of El Paso, Texas, and Pfc. Benedict Joel, a native of the Marshall Islands, both serving with the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, alongside two Iraqi National Policemen, drop an Iraqi flag from the roof of the Al Sha’ab market, Jan. 3. The event was in conjunction with the return of the former Forward Operating Base Callahan to Iraqi control. The base has been occupied by coalition forces since March 2007. The takeover shows an increase in Iraq’s autonomy and security in the Adhamiyah District of Baghdad.
