Summary edit

Description These are the East Doors of the Baptistry, which Michelangelo named the "Gates of Paradise." Ghiberti began the bronze doors in 1425. He and his studio took 27 years to complete them. The panels represent episodes from the story of Joseph. These are the original doors. They were replaced by copies in 1990 and stored to prevent further deterioration.
