English: Flowing the wrong way - The Nene Washes This sluice gate between Rings End and Guyhirn is situated on the eastern end of Morton's Leam.It separates the salt water of The River Nene from the fresh water in Mortons Leam. It is raised at low tide to allow water to flow from Morton's Leam and The Nene Washes into the tidal River Nene. However the day this picture was taken The Nene was so high that salt water was actually flooding over the top of the closed sluice gate and into Morton's Leam. |
