Summary edit
DescriptionFog Signal Station, Flamborough - geograph.org.uk - 1412034.jpg |
English: Fog Signal Station, Flamborough, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. This shows the Fog Signal Station (the white square building) at Flamborough Head, taken from the coastal path. The station is situated at the most easterly point on Flamborough Head, a short distance from the lighthouse. The fog signal is a nautaphone - an electronic device directional to the sea which gives two blasts every 90 seconds, a pattern unique to Flamborough. The original fog horn, a cannon, was built in 1859 and the bungalow was used to house the two gunners. Since then the system has been further updated with the present system being implemented in 1975. |
