Title
Portrait of Louis XV, King of France and Navarre
Description
English: Louis XV of France (1710-1774).

"He is represented three-quarter-length wearing armor, a fleurdelisé coat lined with ermine as well as the Order of the Golden Fleece.
This portrait was made by a close pupil or by a follower of Louis-Michel Van Loo, author of the original portrait painted in the third quarter of the 18th century today at the Château de Versailles and of which the Louvre also retains some replicas.

The replicas of the portraits of kings and queens, as well as of the daughters and sons of France were intended to adorn the castles, the mansions of the members of the court and the nobles of the provinces. They were mostly painted by the painter's studio which employed many students under the direction of the master."
