Tra le curiosità legate alla storia del teatro Petruzzelli di Bari ce ne è una che riguarda l'incendio del 27ottobre 1991. L'ultima opera rappresentata sul palcoscenico poche ore prima di quella tragica notte fu "Norma", spettacolo in due atti di Vincenzo Bellini su libretto di Felice Romani, che si conclude proprio , ironia della sorte, con un incendio, quando la protagonista , Norma, sale sul rogo insieme all'uomo da lei amato. Una tragica coincidenza, ben impressa nei ricordi dei cittadini pugliesi.
