Description

Engraving of 14th century font at St Mary Magdalene Chapel, Oxford, England. Published in A Series of Ancient Baptismal Fonts by Robert Roberts and Francis Simpson (Septimus Prowett, London, 1828).

Note: This was the font which was copied by sculptor Robert Mawer. That copy was installed by architects Mallinson and Healey in St Matthews Church, Bankfoot, Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1849, and it disappeared from the precincts of the same church in 2010.
