Description
English: Footpath beside the canal, and a grim reminder The cut-out bombs in the steel seat commemorate the WW1 Zeppelin bombing raid of Friday, April 12th, 1918, when 27 bombs were dropped at intervals as the pilot followed the canal upwards to the steel works near the top. Two people were killed across the canal in Cecil Street, Scholes. There's a pic of the houses here:http://www.wiganworld.co.uk/album/photo.php?opt=4&id=7536&gallery=Cecil+Street+Wigan&offset=0
