editDescriptionFootpath crosses dismantled railway - geograph.org.uk - 1563613.jpg |
English: Footpath crosses dismantled railway A series of four images taken from where the footpath from Lower Lemington to Aston Magna crosses the dismantled railway. The railway was originally a horse drawn tramway from Moreton-in-Marsh to the canal basin at Stratford-upon-Avon built in 1826 with a branch to Shipston-on-Stour. The part from Moreton-in-Marsh to Shipston-upon-Stour was converted into a steam hauled conventional railway in 1859 and was dismantled in 1960. This is the view of the footpath looking east towards Lower Lemington. |
