Description

(Original text: Der färöische Rudersport nimmt einen wichtigen Platz im Leben der Insulaner ein. Jährlicher Höhepunkt ist zu Ólavsøka in de:Tórshavn. Das Foto entstand vor einem Wettkampf, wo die Boote noch an Land lagen und von der Fachwelt bestaunt wurden. Der Drachenkopf gilt als "typisch färöisch" und weist dieses Boot als eines des de:Tórshavner Rudervereins aus - in diesem Fall der tradtionsreiche "Tórshavn 10er" mit dem Namen Havnarbáturin. Dieses Boot ist in seiner "Königsklasse" färöischer Rekordmeister (12mal seit Bestehen der Meisterschaft de:1973, zuletzt de:2004). Viele Regattaboote sind so aufwändig verziert. Übliche färöische Boote (selbst Motorboote aus Kunststoff) zitieren immer den Drachenkopf aber meist nur den "Hals", ohne den "Kopf" auszugestalten.)
