Description
Português: Com aproximadamente 670 metros de extensão, largura que varia entre 3 a 20 metros, a praia do Itaguaçu é considerada uma das mais belas paisagens marítimas do Município de Florianópolis.

Os Carijó chamavam de Itaguaçu a formação de uma grande rocha, dentro d’água, quase ao centro da praia. Itaguaçu, queria dizer pedra grande e redonda dentro d’água. Ou ainda, cabeça de pedra dentro d’água. Há interessantes formações de granito à beira da praia de Itaguaçu e em meio ao mar da Baía Sul, havendo mesmo uma lenda que conta de bruxas que teriam sido petrificadas, dando origem às pedras, uma das quais parece ter um chapéu.

Toda sua orla foi tombada como patrimônio paisagístico da cidade de Florianópolis.
