Summary
editDescriptionFormer Methodist church, Belfast (1) - geograph.org.uk - 1226453.jpg |
English: Former Methodist church, Belfast (1). The former (listed) Methodist church, at the Bradbury Place end of the University Road, was built circa 1865 to a design by WJ Barre. It currently carries an estate agent's sign offering apartments and offices. My understanding is that the building will be retained but the former (unlisted) church hall will be demolished to make way for the apartments and mezzanine floors will be inserted inside the church. The façade does, however, seem safe. Continue to 1226490.
The most prominent feature is this campanile described by Charlie Brett as "sort of Lombard Romanesque". An interesting comment given that it is probably unique in Irish Methodist church architecture. |
