English: Former Strathmore main line east of Alyth Junction The main line through here was opened in 1848 by the Scottish North Eastern Railway but the first railway hereabouts was the Newtyle & Glammis, opened in 1837 and curving in between the first and second telegraph poles from the woodland in the left background. A station, Meigle or Meigle Junction, was located here from 1848 until 1861, when it was resited westwards at the junction of the new Alyth branch. |
