English: Fort Donelson National Cemetery. Here lie the remains of hundreds of Civil War fighters, most of who saw action scant yards away from their resting grounds. To the right, "Long Tom" was supposed to have been used in upper water battery. The headstones encircling this gun are the burial places of 62 men of the 11th Illinois Infantry reported to have fallen in resistng effort of Col. Nathan Bedford Forrest to cut his way out on 2/15/1862.
