Description "Fort Pulaski: Protecting the Port City. Named in honor of Casimir Pulaski, a Polish hero of the American Revolution, Fort Pulaski was constructed to protect the port of Savannah. Georgia militia troops seized the fort on January 3, 1861. Less than three weeks later, Georgia seceded. Fort Pulaski was under Confederate control until April 1862, when Union forces recaptured the fort." Trading card from Fort Pulaski National Monument in Georgia, United States.
