Description
English: Foundation ruins of the Vindolanda Roman Fort This fort is situated slightly to the south of the lightly fortified Hadrian's Wall, situated on high ground on a naturally defencive ridge. The main purpose of the wall was to impede immigration from the north, not to serve as a major place for battle.
