From http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/general/lib/lib1/nhclib/1971.pdf, this ATS-3 photograph of the Atlantic ocean shows four tropical storms and a tropical depression on September 10, 1971. On the left, recently downgraded Tropical Storm Fern (F) is near its Texas landfall. On the bottom left, minimal Hurricane Edith (E) moves across the western Caribbean Sea after hitting Honduras as a Category 5 hurricane. At the top center, a tropical depression (X) strikes South Carolina, while Tropical Storm Heidi (H) churns to its southeast. To Heidi's east, Tropical Storm Ginger moves northeastward on its 28 day existence of a tropical cyclone.
