| Description |
In Tucson, Fourth Avenue, located near the University of Arizona campus, is full of alternative and hippie-oriented shops and restaurants. It is the closest thing Tucson has to San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury or Los Angeles's Venice Beach. One of the more unusual features in the area: a replica Easter Islands statue at The Hut. To the left in the background are the three "skyscrapers" that stand in the city's downtown. They are only of modest height, but when I used to call Tucson home, I often ran into people, originally from outlying rural communities such as Bisbee, for whom these were the tallest buildings they had ever seen - and Tucson itself the biggest city they had ever known. |
