Description
English: Dating from the 1860s, this small gothic cottage was originally located at the Northwest corner of 4th and Columbia where it was the home of prominent merchant Captain James H. Marshall. Briefly home to Mrs. L.S. Harmon, proprietor of the New England Hotel in the late 1880s, It served as a temporary home for the Seattle P-I after the great fire at which time it was the home of D.L. Lord. Its original quarter-block lot was redeveloped into flats and by 1893 it the home was relocated to this lot at 908 4th Avenue where it was used as a boarding house until its demolition sometime in the 1920s. The Colman Court Building is to the right and the Seattle General Hospital is in the background.
