François-Xavier Lalanne, Moutons, 1977-1988 Fondation Gianadda, Martigny, Suisse « Francois-Xavier Lalanne est un sculpteur et un artiste de l’installation d’origine française. Son travail se caractérise par une utilisation fréquente d’imagerie animale, qu’il incorpore souvent dans ses meubles uniques comme une table gazelle. Né le 27 août 1908 à Agen en France, il étudie à l’académie Julian à Paris. Il y découvre de nombreux surréalistes tels que Man Ray, Max Ernst et Marcel Duchamp. En 1956, lors de sa première exposition, Lalanne rencontre une artiste portant le même nom de famille, Claude Lalanne. Ils se marient, commencent à collaborer sous le nom Les Lalanne et reçoivent de nombreuses commandes du couturier Yves Saint Laurent. La première exposition publique de leur travail présente Rhinocrétaire (1967), un bureau en bronze en forme de rhinocéros. Il meurt le 7 décembre 2008 à Ury en France et, en 2013, Michael Shvo demande à Claude d’installer une œuvre dans une ancienne station essence Getty dans le quartier de Chelsea à New York, le transformant en patûrage peuplé par les moutons de Francois-Xavier. » <a href="http://www.artnet.fr/artistes/fran%C3%A7ois-xavier-lalanne/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.artnet.fr/artistes/fran%C3%A7ois-xavier-lalanne/</a> |
