PLEASE, NO invitations or self promotions, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks. The alabaster pieces displayed in the glass case portray three episodes of Christ's Passion: the Flagellation, the Crucifixion and Christ's descent into limbo. The use of alabaster was widespread in the late 14th and 15th centuries. It is a soft, easily carved stone, which hardens on contact with the air. It is porous, easily painted, and when polished can be mistaken for marble. |
