Summary
editDescriptionFrank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, Oak Park (7041376075).jpg |
Between 1889 and 1909, this house served as renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright's first home and work studio. It has many peculiar elements that are Wright's trademarks - ones that would also show up at his other residences (such as Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona) or in buildings he would design for others. One of the courtyard statues. Wright had a Baptist minister father and a Unitarian mother, and the eventual conversion of the entire family to Unitarianism played a key role in the spiritual development, and aesthetics, of Wright. I am in Chicagoland on a day trip, having driven up from Indianapolis where I was visiting for a nightmarish business trip. I had gone through O'Hare Airport the day before, however, flying United Airlines. Eventually I would leave Indianapolis a day early due to the business trip being extremely sour; my early journey home on United felt a lot like my exodus from my Amsterdam nightmare in 1999 also on United, and that's two reasons on why I have a very clear favorite airline in my air travels. |
