Deutsch: Heft 09, Tafel 098 / Titel auf der Tafel: Eckhaus der Predigerstrasse u. Klostergasse 2. / Originalbeschreibung: In den Zeiten des alten deutschen Reichs hatten die geistlichen Kurfürsten drei Wohnstätten: den Trierischen Hof, das Paradies und das Kompostell oder Mainzerhof. Das Kompostell bestand ausv erschiedenen Gebäudlichkeiten, die nach und nach erworben wurden. Das eigentliche Kompostell bildete die Hofstätte No. 4 der heutigen Predigerstrasse, während das obengenannte Haus später durch Kauf dazu kam, es führte früher den Namen „goldner Hahn“. Im Kompostell wurden die Pilgrime, die nach San Jago di Compostella in der spanischen Provinz Galizien zum Sarge des heiligen Jakob wallfahrteten, für eine gewisse Zeit aufgenommen und verpflegt, zugleich wurde es auch als Hospital benutzt. Das Kompostell gehörte ursprünglich den deutschen Herrn und wurde, nach Fichard, 1570 an Daniel, Erzbischof zu Mainz verkauft. Das Haus, welches unser Bild wiedergibt, diente denselben Zwecken wie das eigentliche Kompostell, heute ist es im Besitz des Herrn J. Böhm und ist Wirthshaus; sein malerischer Aufbau mit den Ueberhängen und seinem Eckthürmchen an dem Dachstock gibt mit den anstossenden Gebäuden, namentlich dem alten Giebelhause des eigentlichen Kompostell der Strasse ein eigenthümliches Gepräge. |
