Description
Deutsch: Kaisersaal im Obergeschoss des Hauses zum Römer im Frankfurter Römerkomplex, Zustand nach dem Umbau von 1896 - 1900, . Der Frankfurter Künstler Karl Julius Grätz (1845-1912) wurde 1903 u.a. mit der Renovierung der prächtig gewölbten Decke des Kaisersaales im Römer entsprechend dem damaligen wilhelminischen Zeitgeschmack nach den Entwürfen des renomierten Berliner Kunstprofessors Fritz Schaper (1847-1919) beauftragt. Die monumentale und eigentümliche Wirkung wurde durch eine farbige Ornamentation mittels eines gewaltigen doppelköpfigen Reichsadlers mit Reichskrone und goldenem Vlies hervorgehoben. Im Saal befand sich ein vom Bildhauer Gustav Kaupert (1819-1897) geschaffenen Standbild Kaiser Wilhelms I. (1797-1888) aus carrarrischem Marmor, eingeweiht am 22. März 1892. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde der Saal zerstört und so nicht wieder aufgebaut.
