A bronze sculpture of a primitive male figure who is hunched on a rock with a cave like wall next to him. He has long, muscular arms, pointed ears, very long hair, and a long beard.

Frederic Remington gave this sculpture of the Paleolithic Man to Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, describing it in a telegram: "he was the original inhabitant of the original Oyster Bay wherever that was." This bronze was a major departure from Remington's typical western and animal subjects. It is located on the bookcase in the Library at the Theodore Roosevelt Home.
