English: Live from the Heartland welcomes several Sensata workers facing outsourcing of their jobs by Bain Capital. They are located at the Sensata plant in Freeport, Illinois, and they stop for the show en route to the Republican National Convention in Tampa. There, they'll be taking the fight to save their jobs straight to Mitt Romney. Over the past few months, the 170 Sensata workers whose jobs will be outsourced to China by November have tried to contact Romney with a signed letter sent to the campaign. They have held frequent protests outside the plant and traveled to nearby campaign offices. In July, the Freeport City Council unanimously called on Romney to meet Freeport. Last week, the workers delivered 35,000 petition signatures to Bain offices in Evanston. Romney has yet to respond. "Since Mitt Romney won't come to Freeport, we'll go to Tampa," said Bonnie Borman, who has worked at the plant for 23 years. |
