Description

Visible here (from 37,000 feet) are some of the famous places on the French Riviera and over the border into Italy, which I've annotated. The foothills of the Alps mountains provide backdrop.

The harbour in Monaco is quite clear, showing several yachts, many costing millions, and more are moored offshore. Menton, the "Pearl of France" comes next. It became very popular in the latter part of the 1800's with wealthy British and Russian people who went there for the good weather. Many of the luxurious buildings that were erected at that time still grace the town and give it a certain elegance.

Apart from road signs the border between France and Italy is hardly noticed as both are part of the European Union.

Vemtimiglia, over the border into Italy has many old buildings, dating as far back as Roman times. It is also a very popular tourist destination.
